Areas of Koh Samui
The island is small but its areas differ a lot — in price, noise and distance to the sea. Here is the short version.
Chaweng
Chaweng is the centre of life on Samui: a long beach, the widest choice of restaurants and shops, and the island's nightlife. It costs more than anywhere else, but everything is within walking distance.
Lamai
Lamai is the island's second most popular area. It is noticeably calmer than Chaweng, prices are around a quarter lower, and many people rate the beach as the best on Samui.
Bophut
Bophut and its Fisherman's Village is the most characterful part of the island: old wooden shophouses, restaurants on the water and a calm sea for most of the year.
Maenam
Maenam is the quiet north of the island, with a long beach and the most affordable prices of any beach area. It is where people settle when they come for a season.
Nathon
Nathon is the administrative centre of Samui and the port where the mainland ferries dock. There are few tourists, and prices for housing and food are local ones.
Na Mueang
The south-west is the quietest, greenest part of the island. Na Mueang is known for its waterfalls, Taling Ngam and Lipa Noi for long sunset beaches without the crowds. People come here for nature and calm, not for bars.
Choeng Mon
The north-eastern tip of the island: the small, calm Choeng Mon bay, villas on the Plai Laem hills, and the main temples of Samui five minutes away — Big Buddha and Wat Plai Laem. Quiet, well kept and very close to the airport.

Renting on Koh Samui: what to know
Koh Samui is Thailand's third largest island and life here runs along the ring road. The east with Chaweng and Lamai is the busiest and most expensive; the north with Bophut, Maenam and Choeng Mon is calmer; the west around Nathon runs on local prices, and the south-west — Na Mueang, Taling Ngam, Lipa Noi — means waterfalls and sunset beaches without the crowds. The main sights, from Big Buddha to the Hin Ta and Hin Yai rocks, are within half an hour of anywhere.
Rental splits into two markets. Villas are available by the night, which suits a week or two of holiday. Apartments, studios and houses are mostly rented from one month, where the cost per day is far lower. On contracts of three months or more owners typically discount another 20–30%.
Almost everyone needs a vehicle: there is no conventional public transport on the island and songthaews (pickup trucks with bench seats) get expensive if you travel daily. A scooter costs from ฿3,000 a month, a car from ฿15,000. Both require an international or Thai driving licence.

How far in advance should I send a request?
The earlier you start looking for a place and a vehicle, the better the options you will get.
How much does the search cost?
Yes, we charge a commission for the search — it covers vetted options, negotiating with the owner, going through the contract and support for the whole rental period. We quote the amount before we start.
Can I request property and a vehicle at once?
The forms are separate because the questions differ, but if you need both, send both or simply message us on WhatsApp and we will sort it out in the chat.
How do I book, and what is the booking deposit?
Send a request or message us on WhatsApp — we confirm availability for your dates and send payment details. A booking deposit secures the reservation: in high season usually 50% of the price, with the balance due 7–14 days before check-in or handover. It is separate from the security deposit on the property or vehicle — sometimes the amounts match, sometimes not; we state the terms for each property when confirming.
Why is a prepayment needed, and how do I know my money is safe?
The prepayment takes the property or vehicle off the market for your dates — without it an owner will not hold anything, especially in high season. To make paying comfortable: before you transfer, you get written confirmation with dates and amount; if you are not on the island yet, we show the property on a video call; every payment is confirmed with a document. We have an office on Samui — the address is on the contacts page, and you are welcome to visit. And from request to move-in you deal with the same person.
