Nathon is the administrative centre of Samui and the port where the mainland ferries dock. There are few tourists, and prices for housing and food are local ones.
Nathon is the cheapest place on Samui: apartments from ฿12,000 a month, two-bedroom houses from ฿18,000. There is less choice than on the east coast and most listings are in Thai, which is exactly where an agent helps.
